WESTBRIDGEDOGS
Welcome

I have been breeding and showing dogs since 1974. My first dog was a sable Rough Collie, Jason of Kentine, born 11/11/1973 that was followed a few years later with Ugonys Dream of Oliver, a great blue merle of the old Westcarrs breeding and my love affair with Blue merles.

I got my first Smooth collie in the early 80s from the Cotsbelle kennels of Betty Hodgets where I found them to be more fun than the Roughs. After many great years in Collies I spent a few years living in Italy.

In the 90s I fell for the Schnauzers. I had always liked them and finally got one for myself. I never looked back only wishing I had got one sooner.

2007 saw Rough collies back at Westbridge we are lucky enough to be able to have a lovely blue merle girl from the Steelhusrt kennel by their French import blue merle male Ch Top Gun Du Clos Duchesses At Steelhurst
Also we now have a Smooth collies back with us and all the joys of my past ones have come back having them around me again. Tibetan Terriers join the kennel
We have two Black and White girls Westbridge She can cha cha & Westbridge she can swing and have kept a sable boy

    • Just wanted to say to anyone considering using Andrew when looking for a new puppy, we can not reccommend him highly enough!! Allowed us to look arund his kennels multiple times, we visited the puppies when they were born at least three times. Every time, Andrew offered advice and support in our decision making. He was outstanding and we left actually thinking it was weird we wouldnt see him again. Looking forward to seeing him at the fun day!!! Our two puppies settled nicely into their new home last night and have already grown in confidence in just 24hrs!

If you are unsure, this is by far the best breeder I have contacted, having come from a family who bred rottweilers (KC reg), I feel he is an abassador for the breed!!!!

    • Hi Andrew I have been reading all the good stuff about the Schnauzers. We are keen to buy one but wondered if you have had anyone from Cornwall who has had puppies from you. We would like to compare the mini with the standard Schnauzer. We have seen a 2.5 yr old mini in Camborne which is not too far from where we live but would like to compare the difference in size of the mini and the standard. Also we wondered how far you were from Penzance in Cornwall, if we wanted to have a look at some of the puppies you have at the moment. I saw pics of recent pups and I understand that you will be putting up newer pics of the same pups now that they are older. Its too late to ring you now but I will try to ring you tomorrow sometime to pick your brains. My email address is linda.lindapacker1@googlemail.com all the best Linda and Andrew

    • Hi Andrew, just to let you know the Venus and Serena have recently turned 1year old ( 24/10/11) and they are 2 loveable and very bouncy standard schnauzer girls. They love each other to bits and run together cheek to cheek in our local park and are very well known within the dog walking community! Venus is smaller and very robust and loves lots of cuddles and attention whilst Serena is bigger and very elegant. She is much more independent but is very playful ( has even learnt how to throw her own tennis balls). They are great guard dogs and are very fiercely protective of us all whilst gentle and loving towards our children. Everyday is an adventure to them so sometimes need to close reign on them. Most of all they make us laugh

    • Hi Andrew, Thank you so much for our Flossy (standard schnauzer) that we got from you in January 2009. She is our perfect dog, and has completely changed our life for the better We would never consider having any dog but a standard schnauzer now! Thanks again, all the best,

    • Hi, Just to let you know about Rupert the Standard we got in Jan 2011, he is now 9 months and is a lively individual,he loves socks and shoes but on the whole is very good.He has been training hard at puppy class although his attention span is very short,he has his first rosette. We have taken him on his first holiday to scotland and he loves it even though he is worn out.

    • Hi Georgina! I would really reccommend you read (or watch if you have Nat Geo channel) The Dog Whisperer Cesar Millan. He gives fantastic advice and it's all based on dogs natural behaviour and making sure you are 'pack leader'. It really works, I bought 2 schnauzer crosses from Andrew and although they've been hard work I now have 2 amazing little dogs who are a complete joy. I am so pleased I got 2 as they love each other to bits and love to play together in the garden and on walks, but they know who's boss and that's the only way it can work..particularly on walks as otherwise 2 dogs on a lead that think they're in charge can be miserable!Hope that helps.. Good luck!!

    • Hi Georgina,

I've owned 2 dogs before, but they were not both Schauzers! I find bringing a puppy in easier as the other dog accepts it easier, however I've done the older dog thing before aswell...introducing a Staff to a Standard it was fine after a few days...just make sure you pick one with similar or lower energy. Personally I love having 2 dogs, but it is twice the work! lol

    • Hi Andy, just to let you know Venus and Serena ( 2 Standards Schnauzers brought home on the 18th Dec 2010 ) are doing fine, They are 2 fiesty girlies who love their walks in the parks, cuddles and are great with the kids. They both have their own little personalities so still in the process of training them. They are 3 months old now and are starting to get their little beards and Schnauzer features and are adored by everyone who meets them. Will keep in touch and send pics soon. Take care, love the Warners x

    • Hi Andy thankyou for Layla brought home 19 Dec 2010 she has settled in well, her quiet nature only lasted two days and is now a typical min Schnauzer and loves being in charge. Can not thank you enough Steve@Maria

    • Hello All We have a beautiful standard shnauzer from Westbridge born Jan 2008. She is a salt and pepper bitch and is the apple of my eye! I think she would love a friend to live with but wonder if anyone has any experience of introducing another dog into the mix? My husband and I have no children and are out 8hrs a day but we walk for at least 45mins/day with our dog and are really enthusiastic about clicker training. I would think an older dog (not a new puppy) could be a better option, any thoughts?
